Jim Baum, President & CEO
As President and CEO, Baum is responsible for setting the strategic
direction of the company, as well as overseeing its day-to-day
operations, global product development, sales and marketing.
As an integral part of the leadership team in his previous role
as COO, Baum worked to take Netezza public in 2007, as well
as drive the company to profitability earlier this fiscal year.
Baum brings to Netezza over 20 years of leadership experience
with fast-growing companies.
Prior to Netezza, Jim Baum was president and CEO of Endeca.
During his five year tenure, he led Endeca's rise from an
innovative start-up to the leading provider of innovative
information access and delivery software solutions to the
Global 2000, building the customer base to more than 270.
Previously, as executive vice president and general manager
at Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), Baum helped drive
the Company's growth to more than $1 billion in revenues during
his 11-year tenure. Overseeing PTC's Windchill Business Unit,
he was responsible for all aspects of the business, including
product strategy, product development, marketing, operations
and services.
Jim holds an M.S. in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute and a B.S. in Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic
Institute (WPI). He is a member of WPI's Department
of Computer Science Advisory Board and is on the board of
Auraria Networks. Baum is an avid flyer and a member of Angel
Flight.

Patrick J. Scannell, Jr., Sr. Vice President, CFO & Treasurer
Pat Scannell brings more than 30 years experience in finance and operations to Netezza and led the company’s 2007 initial public offering on the New York stock exchange. Pat has had extensive experience in managing fast growth companies both domestically and internationally throughout his career.
Prior to Netezza, Scannell served as the CFO of Photonex, an optical networking company. Before Photonex, he was the SVP and CFO of Silknet Software a company he took public on NASDAQ before orchestrating its sale to Kana (NASDAQ: KANA), a leading provider of enterprise customer support and communications applications.
Before Silknet, Scannell was Executive Vice President and CFO of Applix, Inc. a global provider of enterprise–wide business performance management solutions. While at Applix, he led the company through a successful initial public offering and a number of strategic domestic and international acquisitions.
Scannell has served on various private and public boards, is presently on the board of GlassHouse Technologies, a global provider of IT infrastructure services, and also serves on the Boston College Technology Council.
Scannell earned an MBA from Babson College and a BS from Boston College and practiced as a Certified Public Accountant.

Ray Tacoma, Sr. Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Ray Tacoma brings more than 25 years of experience in technology sales and sales management to Netezza.
Before joining Netezza, Tacoma was executive vice president of sales and marketing at Corechange, a global provider of portal framework software. Previously, Tacoma also served as vice president of North American sales at MicroStrategy, Inc. where the company's staff grew by more than 200 percent during his tenure. He has also held sales and management positions at Digital, eGrail, Sequent and Tandem.
Tacoma earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Evansville and pursued graduate studies in business at the University of Michigan.

Tricia Cotter, Sr. Vice President of Operations
Tricia Cotter brings over 20 years of experience in product development, production and customer support to Netezza.
Cotter was previously a vice president at Visual Networks where she successfully created and managed the complete infrastructure necessary for the manufacture, test and direct customer shipment of Frame Relay, IP and ATM telecom products.
Previously, Cotter was responsible for re-engineering the new product introductions to quality, cost and time to market requirements at Stratus Computer. Prior to Stratus, Cotter managed the external manufacturing operations at Sun Microsystems and held positions in manufacturing and quality at Computervision and Honeywell.
Cotter is a graduate of Boston College, the Executive MBA Program at Northeastern University and AMP at Harvard Business School.

David Flaxman, Sr. Vice President of Products and Technology
As Senior Vice President of Products and Technology David brings more than 25 years of technology innovation and strategic development to Netezza, with deep expertise in both the development of database and data management technology as well as in the implementation and use of these technologies. Early in his career David spent 10 years on Wall Street during which time he played a major role in ushering in a new generation of technology to the Street. Included among his accomplishments during this time was the concept and architecture for what later became Sybase’s Replication Server.
David spent 10 years in the consulting industry first with Sybase, then as Managing Partner of the Advanced Technology practice at KPMG, and finally as one of the founders of the consulting start-up Answerthink. During this time, David worked with a variety of clients on business and technology strategy as well as on a wide range of technology development and implementation projects. One of David’s key accomplishments during this time was the architecture, design and implementation of a large-scale data warehouse for a major telecommunications company using an innovative, home-grown massively parallel architecture.
As Sr. Vice President of Products and Technology, David will be focused on fully aligning our product and technology initiatives.
David received his BA, Phi Beta Kappa and Summa cum Laude, from Michigan State University and his MA in Mathematical Logic from The Johns Hopkins University.

Justin Lindsey, CTO
As CTO, Justin Lindsey brings a unique depth of knowledge and expertise to Netezza.
Prior to joining Netezza, Lindsey served as Deputy CIO and CTO at the United States Department of Justice where he guided the Department's technology research and utilization of emerging technologies in support of DOJ's mission. Prior to DOJ, Justin was the CTO for the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he helped shape the technology infrastructure for FBI's core mission systems.
Lindsey's experience in the private sector includes his role as Founder, Chief Solutionist and Director of the Hewlett-Packard Advanced Solutions Lab (ASL), created with the sole purpose of delivering solutions that revolutionize markets, industries, and the world.
Before his tenure at Hewlett-Packard, Lindsey founded LavaStorm, Inc., an Internet systems engineering firm specializing in designing, building, and delivering complex systems for category leader clients. Under his guidance as Founder and Chief Solutions Officer, LavaStorm grew to more than 180 employees with offices in Boston and San Jose, California.
Justin holds an M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a S.B. in Computer Science and Engineering both from MIT.

John Metzger, Vice President, Product Strategy
John Metzger has two decades of experience designing database software, tools and systems.
As vice president, product strategy, Metzger is focused on consistently driving product direction, ensuring that the Netezza system meets and exceeds customer expectations and integrates with leading partner applications. Prior to Netezza, Metzger was a consultant on applications and database critical projects, and also held senior management positions at Data General Corporation where he was responsible for many product firsts including Data General's first DBMS products.

Tim Young, Vice President, Corporate Marketing
Tim Young has over 15 years experience marketing database and business service management (BSM) products. He has worked for large enterprise vendors such as Oracle and BMC Software and was on the management team of two start-ups: Patrol Software (acquired in 1994 by BMC Software) and Proxima Technology (acquired in 2007 by Compuware). Young has run marketing organizations in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the U.S. and brings a thorough understanding of global marketing to Netezza to complement his domain expertise on database technology.
Young's career in marketing began at Oracle in the early 90s during the Company's rapid growth as a corporate standard for RDBMS. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant conducting large-scale data modelling, database design and business analysis engagements for both Oracle and CACI.
Young has a degree in Computer Science from Greenwich University, London.

Phil Francisco, Vice President, Product Management & Product Marketing
Phil Francisco brings over 20 years of valuable experience in technology development and global technology marketing. As Vice President of Product Management and Product Marketing, he fosters new business and product strategies, directs the product portfolio and drives product marketing programs for Netezza.
Prior to Netezza, Francisco was the Vice President of Marketing at PhotonEx, a leading developer of 40 Gb/s optical transport systems for core telecommunications network providers. Before PhotonEx Francisco served as Vice President of Product Marketing for Lucent Technologies' Optical Networking Group, where he worked with some of the world's largest telecommunications carriers in planning and implementing optical network solutions. In addition, he has more than 10 years of experience in software, hardware and systems engineering at AT&T/Lucent Bell Laboratories.
Mr. Francisco holds a patent in advanced optical network architectures. He received B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Computer Science degrees magna cum laude, from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Jon Niess, Vice President, Corporate Development
Jon Niess brings over 20 years of sales, operations and international experience to Netezza where, as vice president, corporate development, he is responsible for growing Netezza's business globally.
Prior to Netezza, Niess was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales Operations at Vignette, where he was responsible for all software revenue worldwide. His tenure at Vignette also included successfully integrating several acquisitions into the company's operations.
Before joining Vignette, Niess was an area vice president at Oracle, where he held various sales and sales management positions in both the applications and technology areas. At Oracle, Niess was responsible for developing sales and services practices that were executed globally, and which led North America in applications revenue.
Niess had previously been Chief Operating Officer at Nistevo, a collaborative logistics network. As COO, Niess oversaw Product Development, Support, Sales and Marketing. During his tenure at Nistevo, Niess successfully delivered the first production application to the market, and was responsible for Nistevo's first set of flagship customers. Niess began his career in programming/database design and technical management.
Niess attended the University of Minnesota.
